Appropriate for All Levels of Dance Experience

BEGINNERS ENCOURAGED!!!

September 18 - Olivier Besson  - THIS WAS GREAT - (but it's in the past)
November 6th - Amii Legendre - THIS ONE IS OVER, TOO
December 4th - Neige Christenson - YET TO COME.  DONT' MISS IT!!

One More Saturday Afternoons, 12-6pm (with a provided snack break)

New and experienced dancers alike will benefit from these one day workshops designed to focus on the foundational concepts of Contact Improvisation.  Every teacher has their own view of the most basic features of a contact improv dance and what makes us Contact Dancers; now you get to experience a range of beliefs and exercises from three different points of view.  Each workshop is designed to stand alone and also to complement the others.

Contact Improv is safer and more fun when everyone has a solid foundation and a common language.  So come one come all!  Don't be shy!  Let's raise our collective Contact IQ.  Beginners and veterans are welcome and encouraged.  All will benefit.  Enjoy single classes or pre-register for all three at a discounted price.

BIOS:
Olivier Besson took his first Contact class in 1980 and has been a central figure in the Boston CI community ever since.  He is on the dance faculty at the Boston Conservatory, and has taught and performed in France, Russia, Taiwan and throughout the US.  Olivier continues to run the Movement Improv Jam with Live Music on Monday nights at the Dance Complex in Cambridge.

Amii LeGendre is interested in the place where instinct and technique intersect. An avid technician from modern dance as well as gymnastics and other sometimes tyrannical forms, she has finally found liberation in a detailed study of fundamentals. Her class speaks to interests in improvisation's applications in and out of the studio, the poetics of contact, the contact mind, and fundamentals and pathways for ease into and out of the floor and each other. She teaches throughout the country, and at Bard College in NY and in men's prisons through Bard Prison Initiative.

Neige Christenson has been an avid Contact Improviser since the mid-eighties, as a devoted jam participant, teacher and performer. She loves the way CI can be a metaphor for human relationship and also an abstract expression of life-force energy. Her teaching encourages opening the improvisational mind and body to full presence and connection with self and other. She has an MA in Expressive Arts Therapy from Lesley University.
