Flying Toward Familiar
Joe HararyFall Jam and Workshop

October 8th and 9th
With Jacob Regan
and Jen Passios

On-line registration closes at midnight, Wednesday, Oct 5.
We are accepting walk-in registrations.
You can simply show up at the Masons Hall for the event, per the schedule below and register there. Payment will be as below.

"This weekend's work will be driven by exploration, risk taking, and curiosity in service of building a positive relationship with the unknown."

The class content will concentrate on tools for falling, building dynamic stability, working through rebound, reaction crafting, and recognizing choice in composition.

Our work together will include both improvisational exercises for the solo body and experiments in contact with one another that aim to support further investigation in a jam setting.

"Let’s spiral toward the unknown and see what we find."

Joe HararyJacob and Jen
are both professional contemporary dancers by trade and avid CI practitioners. They are also former Bostonians, who not so long ago, were frequent favorite CIB facilitators.
We welcome back old friends who have taken wing and independently shared their skills as performers with audiences around the world.

Artist’s Impression, by Iku OsekiHonk! Lunch Dance Break: During our Sunday lunch break, the Honk Parade of Activist Bands will march by.  If you have never experienced Honk you won't want to miss joining the fun of watching, but more likely dancing, along with some of the marching bands.

Experience and Skill level: This workshop is a collective skill building intended for dancers of all levels of CI experience.

Proximity, Touch and Consent:  Although we will keep our masks on during the workshop, participants will be invited to partner-up and practice the form in contact.  As always, everyone has free agency to engage in the exercises to their own degree of comfort, and with full consent.

IMPORTANT: Read about what's different this year...
As with the May Jam 2022, this weekend has health related requirements because organizers want to attempt to protect participants from possible risks of Covid. We also want to create a container to build deeper connections between participants in this workshop.

Vaccine and Masks:  All participants must wear well-fitting masks (except when eating or drinking) and must show proof of full vaccination (booster not required) upon entry.

Closed Container:  All participants must arrive in the space for the opening circle on Saturday at 10am. The doors will close after that, so we can establish community guidelines for working together throughout the weekend.

Housing for Out-of-Towners:  Please contact your personal Boston area friends if you need help staying overnight. Because Covid numbers are still high, the organizers decided that non-local dancers would need to make their own housing arrangements.

Lunches:  In a break from long past practices, CIB is not providing any food at this workshop. We have scheduled 1.5-hour down time in the middle of each of our dancing days. You can enjoy lunch at local restaurants or BYO and eat outside or spread throughout the Masons Hall lobby.  On Sunday, Honk parade will fly by and we will join them for crazy dancing while eating.

Two-day Registration Only:  Partial registrations are not an option for this workshop. We want everyone to participate for both days to share all the material.
