Freedom Within Form:
This two-day workshop provides a container where mutual flow and deep play manifests the emergence of a consensual dance.

An Intermediate Level* workshop designed for dancers who seriously strive to advance their CI practice and regularly participate in the form.

Registration closes 11/20 midnight

Olivier says:
• We prepare the body by introducing and dissecting techniques to grow our understanding of physical possibilities.
• We look at our own tendencies and expectations.
• We make room for the unknown with the notion of allowing for empty space.
• We show up in the dance, more fully present and experience freedom within form.

EXPECTATIONS and BOUNDARIES:

What is Intermediate Level* CI experience?

A metric for this might be:
You have attended multiple classes or jams and have gained a sense of how to share and listen to weight, both your own and a partner's. You regularly participate in the form.

You are familiar with being off-balance: right side up, sideways and even sometimes upside down. You are comfortable on your feet, on the floor, and in transition between these. Your CI practice balances risk with safety.

Consent and Touch:
As always, participants have free agency to engage in any part of this workshop to their own degree of comfort. Dancers will be invited to partner-up and practice the form in-contact.  You have the option to choose (or choose not) to engage in any exercise or partnership, also to end any interaction at any time.

Contact the registrar if you have questions about expectations or boundaries.

COVID CONSIDERATIONS:

Contact Improv Boston does not require participants to wear masks or provide proof of vaccination.  This is optional at the choice of each dancer.

Please be mindful of your activities particularly in the week before the workshop and do a covid test in the 24 hours before the workshop, if possible.

Do not attend if you tested positive for Covid in the last 24hrs (even without symptoms), or if you are feeling sick in any way (even with a negative Covid test), or if you have been in contact with somebody with obvious Covid symptoms in the last 48 hrs.
You must notify the registrar in order to receive a refund.

See full cancellation policy, below.

OUT-OF-TOWNERS:

If you live outside of the local area you are welcome to attend this workshop. However, unlike some past events, CIB cannot be responsible to organize overnight accommodations for you.  Please contact your personal Boston area friends, if you need help staying overnight.

Covid is still with us and different people have different comfort levels - hosts and guests might have different goals. The event organizers decided that the complexity of making such arrangements was too great a responsibility.
