Weight In / Weight Away

One of the keys to contact improvisation is negotiating weight in (towards your partner) and weight away (away from your partner). This negotiation requires a unique mix of non-verbal communication, listening, timing and trust. When these forces are in balance - regardless of the size of the bodies in movement - the dancing feels easy, safe and supportive. We will explore these two themes with a variety improvised exercises and dancing partners.

Class only available as a drop-in.   Cost: $15/class at the door 
For drop-ins to class, we offer a reduced rate for the jam (sliding scale starting at $5.00 instead of the usual jam-only price of $10, sliding scale, $8-16).

Location: The usual weekly Contact Jam space:
First Church Cambridge, 11 Garden Street, Harvard Square, Cambridge.  
(Take the Red Line or leave plenty of time for parking.)
