Before the Jam Classes - October, 2015
A Smorgasbord of Teachers

For this month's Before-the-Jam classes, we decided on an offering of three different teachers.

Get a taste of each, from the October Smorgasbord

October 13 - Serious Fun, Paul Laurey, teacher
How can a disciplined focus to the present moment in dancing unleash terrific awareness, grounded readiness, and wonderful dancing with people? We'll begin in solo physical tasks that bring your knowing body into playful, exacting, and dynamic contact improvisational partnering.

October 20 - Dynamic Stability, Jacob Regan, teacher
The ins and outs of exploring partner work. Sharing weight, giving weight, receiving weight, and what it means to be stable (and collapsible) while dancing with other human beings. Knowing what it means to be stable, and how to maneuver while being mindful of others.

October 27 - Softening Edges, Jeremy Finch, teacher
I'm interested in exploring different ways to smooth out the natural edges and sharp bones in our bodies in order to roll more softly between each other and on the floor. I believe we can adapt our anatomy to become softer, smoother and more efficient through movement. This class will start with solo improv and then move into contact towards the end. Pants and knee pads recommended.

Time: Class starts promptly at 6:30, end at 8 pm. (followed by weekly Contact Jam.)

Location: The usual weekly Contact Jam space:
